GEJ Visits Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, Seeks Emir's Support

While in Kano State yesterday, for the continuation of his presidential campaign, President Goodluck Jonathan visited sacked CBN Governor, who is now the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, in his palace seeking hisblessing in his re-election bid.

Jonathan congratulated Sanusi on his installation and condoled with him and the people of the emirate on Bayero’s demise. He told the monarch he was in his palace to formally introduce himself, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other PDP candidates in the election.

“I am here to seek your royal blessing and to reassure the people of Kano that the PDP is totally committed to developing the country,” the president said while addressing the monarch.

A heartbroken woman is believed to have hanged herself after her parents died just days apart, her family have revealed. Cassie Richardson, from Fleetwood, Lancashire, had struggled for four years following the death of her parents Tony and Janice in April, 2010.

Police in Ogun State have arrested a robbery suspect, identified as So­moye, who allegedly led his gang to rob a church (names withheld) in the Ibara GRA area of Abeo­kuta of N6 million cash.

The gang was also alleged to have dispossessed congre­gation of their cash and other valuables.

Somoye had led his rob­bery gang to rob the church of the cash and valuables during an anniversary ser­vice last Sunday.

But following a distress call, the police stormed the church while the robbers were still carrying out their operations and engaged the gang members in an ex­change of fire.
